Find & Replace

This feature allows you to find and replace each or every occurrence of a text pattern in the document grid. The scope can be adjusted to only search documents that are checked in the grid. To pull up the Find & Replace dialog (see below), select Find & Replace under the Home group in the toolbar.

Find What: You can find each occurrence of a combination of characters, including uppercase and lowercase characters, whole words or parts of words.
Replace With: You can replace the first occurrence or all occurrences with the value entered here.
Look In: Finds the search criteria in the specified column. Note that columns marked with an asterisk (*) are read-only and their values cannot be replaced.

Note

The Look In drop down list is populated with the same columns visible on the document grid. Use the Field Chooser on the document grid to show more columns in the list.

Match Case: Finds occurrences of the search criteria using the given pattern of uppercase and lowercase characters.
Match Whole Words: Finds occurrences of the search criteria as whole words.
Search Up / Search Down: Searches the grid above or below the currently selected document.
Scope: If Checked Documents is selected, only documents that are checked in the grid will be searched. Otherwise, all documents visible in the grid will be searched.

Note

In addition to the scope settings, only documents that are visible in the grid will be searched or replaced on. For example, if a filter is active, any documents filtered out will not be searched.

Note

When using Replace, the current selection will be replaced. When using Replace Next, the current selection will be replaced and the next criteria found will be selected.

Note

Replace All will find & replace in both directions until the search criteria is exhausted.
